De Nederlandse banken zijn bang voor omvangrijke capaciteitsproblemen als ze binnenkort honderdduizenden klanten met een aflossingsvrije hypotheek actief moeten gaan benaderen.
Die klanten zouden volgens toezichthouder Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM) mogelijk in de problemen komen aan het einde van de looptijd van hun hypotheek.
De banken vrezen dat ze zoveel mankracht moeten gaan inzetten om deze klanten in actie te krijgen, dat hun hypotheekapparaat vastloopt. Dit blijkt uit een rondgang langs de vier grootste banken van het land door het Financieele Dagblad.
Er zijn ongeveer 1,1 miljoen huishoudens met een grotendeels aflossingsvrije hypotheek. In 2031 valt de fiscale aftrekbaarheid van veel aflossingsvrije hypotheken weg.
